DUI – Police charged Luis Figueroa, 29, with DUI following a traffic incident around 4:30 a.m. Dec. 21 on the 400 block of Lehman Street.

DUI, drug possession – Around 3:15 p.m. Jan. 8, police pulled over a vehicle on the 100 block of North 9th Street for a traffic violation and identified the driver as Jean Bontemps, 24, and located controlled substances and related narcotics paraphernalia. Police took Bontemps into custody for DUI and, upon receipt of lab results, charged him with DUI and possession of a controlled substance.

DUI, following too closely – Around 10:15 a.m. Jan. 24, police responded to the 400 block of East Walnut Street for a crash. It was reported that the vehicle was swerving following the crash. Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Caleb Smith, 25. Police observed Smith exhibiting various indicators of impairment, took him into custody for DUI, and, upon receipt of blood test results, charged him with DUI, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and following too closely.

DUI – Police charged Francisco Vicente, 37, with DUI following a traffic incident around 4 a.m. March 22 near the intersection of Spring and Partridge streets.

DUI, careless driving – Around 3 a.m. April 4, police responded to the 600 block of Maple Street for a crash. Police spoke with Erik Ortolaza, 23, and determined that he struck two parked vehicles. Police took Ortolaza into custody for DUI and, upon receipt of blood test results, charged him with DUI and careless driving.

Theft by unlawful taking, disorderly conduct – Around 1 p.m. April 18, police responded to the 600 block of Quentin Road for a bicycle theft. After reviewing video footage, police identified Quirino Madrigal, 36, as a suspect. About an hour later, police responded to the 1500 block of Lafayette Street for a disturbance, with the man creating the disturbance matching Madrigal’s description. Police observed Madrigal on the stolen bicycle while responding to the disturbance. Police stopped Madrigal, took him into custody, and charged him with theft by unlawful taking and disorderly conduct.

Evading arrest or detention on foot – Terance Brent, 40, was known to police to have an active arrest warrant and was observed around 10:30 p.m. April 22 on the 700 block of Lehman Street. When police attempted to stop Brent, he fled on foot. Police were able to catch up to Brent, take him into custody without further incident, and charge him with evading arrest or detention on foot.

Heidelberg Township

Simple assault – At 4:55 a.m. April 7, the suspect punched another person in the face on Schaeffer Road.

Vehicle accident, duty of driver in construction and maintenance areas – At 3:18 p.m. April 10, a 2006 Honda Civic driven by a 73-year-old Lebanon man, accompanied by a 70-year-old Lebanon woman, was stopped at a stop sign, facing east on Oak Street. The Civic proceeded through the intersection without clearance and was struck by a northbound 2008 Honda Accord driven by a 20-year-old Lebanon man. All parties were wearing seatbelts and sustained no injuries. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Police charged the 20-year-old man with summary duty of driver in construction and maintenance areas.

Vehicle accident, duties at a stop sign – At 5:52 p.m. April 10, a 2022 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 16-year-old Freeland, Maryland, man was traveling west on Reistville Road, approaching a stop sign. The Jeep proceeded through the stop sign without clearance and struck a northbound 2017 Nissan Titan driven by a 47-year-old Mount Joy man, accompanied by a 38-year-old Mount Joy woman. The Nissan then entered the opposing lane and struck a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 24-year-old Newmanstown man. All parties were wearing seatbelts and sustained no injuries. The Jeep and Nissan sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. The Volkswagen sustained functional damage and was driven from the scene. Police charged the juvenile with duties at a stop sign.

South Lebanon Township

DUI – Around 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23, police responded to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue for a single-vehicle crash involving a telephone pole. The driver, Robert Smith, 79, of Reading, sustained no injuries. Police observed Smith exhibiting various indicators of impairment, and he admitted to consuming alcohol and admitted that to be the cause of the crash. Field testing and a preliminary breath test indicated the presence of alcohol. Police took Smith into custody for suspicion of DUI, which his blood test results later confirmed with a BAC of 0.104%, and charged him with misdemeanor DUI-highest rate of alcohol and misdemeanor DUI-incapable of safe driving.

DUI – Around 6:33 p.m. March 24, police responded to the area of Cedar Crest High School for an erratic driver of a vehicle without a right rear tire. Police located the vehicle at a nearby residence and made contact with the driver, Khagendra Bhandari, 30, of Lebanon, who was still inside the running vehicle. Bhandari exhibited various indicators of impairment and was unable to successfully complete field sobriety testing. Police took Bhandari into custody for suspicion of DUI, where he refused a chemical blood test, and charged him with misdemeanor DUI-incapable of safe driving.

Drug possession, driving without a license – Around 1:23 a.m. April 1, police pulled over a vehicle on the 500 block of East Cumberland Street and made contact with the driver, Kaleth Sebastian Martinez, 20, of Tamaqua. Police checked records and confirmed that Martinez did not have a valid license. Police also detected an odor of marijuana, searched the vehicle, and seized suspected marijuana. Police charged Martinez with misdemeanor possession of a small amount of marijuana and summary driving without a license.

Theft from a motor vehicle – Around 1:30 a.m. April 8, police responded to the area of Linda Way for an alarm/suspicious person after a security company observed a person checking vehicle door handles. The audible alarm was activated, and the person fled the area. Police searched the area and located a person nearby, followed by a brief foot pursuit. Police took Zachary Bervil, 18, into custody without incident. Investigation revealed that Bervil checked multiple unlocked vehicles and removed loose change and other small items. Police recovered the evidence and charged Bervil with misdemeanor theft from a motor vehicle.

South Londonderry Township

Vehicle accident – At 3:35 p.m. April 15, a Volvo SUV driven by a 78-year-old Ephrata woman was traveling west on Route 322 at North Thistledown Drive and, for an unknown reason, crossed into the oncoming lane. The Volvo struck the rear driver’s side of an eastbound pickup truck driven by a 56-year-old Lebanon woman and an eastbound Dodge Durango driven by a 50-year-old Pine Grove woman. Route 322 was closed in both directions until the crash with entrapment was cleared up.

Vehicle accident – At 4:34 a.m. April 19, a 2025 Nissan Sentra was traveling in the left lane and negotiating a slight right curve on I-76 East near mile marker 262.1 while it was raining. The Nissan struck the center concrete barrier with its left front corner and left front wheel. The Nissan was able to be driven onto the right shoulder. No injuries were reported. The Nissan was able to have the spare tire affixed and be driven from the scene. Police charged the driver with driving vehicle at a safe speed.

Vehicle accident – At 1:58 p.m. April 21, police responded to Horseshoe Pike and Lawn Road for a crash. A vehicle driven by a 42-year-old Palmyra man was stopped in traffic, waiting to turn left onto Lawn Road, when it was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Harrisburg man. No injuries were reported. One vehicle was towed from the scene.

Found items – Police are in possession of a canvas bag containing electric work safety equipment. It was picked up on April 21 along Mine Road in Colebrook and is believed to have fallen off a truck. Vehicle accident – At 3:18 p.m. April 22, a Nissan SUV driven by a Palmyra female juvenile struck the front of a Volkswagen SUV driven by a 73-year-old Annville woman while she was backing up in her lane on Hinkle Road at South Forge Road. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Hit-and-run crash – At 4 p.m. April 22, police responded to the area of Mount Wilson and Mount Gretna roads for a report of a hit-and-run crash. A 34-year-old Annville man reported that the windshield of his vehicle was struck by material protruding from the bed of a passing pick-up truck, shattering the glass. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call South Londonderry Township Police at 717-838-1376.

Swatara Township

Confinement of dogs, harboring a dangerous dog – At 3:08 p.m. April 16, police responded to the 00 block of Middle Avenue for a disturbance. While investigating, a 33-year-old Jonestown male trooper was bitten on the arm by an uncontrolled dog owned by a 38-year-old Jonestown man involved in the disturbance. Police charged the 38-year-old man with summary confinement of dogs and summary harboring a dangerous dog. The trooper was treated and released from WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital.

Western Lebanon County Regional

DUI, restriction on alcoholic beverage – At 11:06 p.m. Feb. 26, police made contact with Christopher Snyder, 31, on the 200 block of West Main Street in Annville. Snyder was found to be operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. On April 8, a criminal complaint was filed, charging Snyder with one count of misdemeanor DUI-incapable of safe driving, one count of misdemeanor DUI-highest rate of alcohol, and one count of summary restriction on alcoholic beverage.

DUI, accidents involving unattended property – Police charged Shelby Braciszewski, 29, with misdemeanor DUI-highest rate of alcohol, summary accidents involving unattended property, and summary duty to give information and render aid after a crash at around 3 a.m. March 15 on the 100 block of Heisey Road in Annville.

DUI, restrictions on alcoholic beverages – Around 11:56 p.m. April 2, police observed a vehicle on the 900 block of East Main Street in Palmyra, determined that the driver, Thomas Hartill, 55, was under the influence of alcohol, and arrested him on suspicion of DUI. On April 11, police charged Hartill with DUI-general impairment and summary restrictions on alcoholic beverages, filed through MDJ Warner’s office.
