The recent letter and call for Mr. Andrew’s resignation is disappointing, but not surprising. It reflects the frustration of a small group that has repeatedly found itself in the minority and, rather than working collaboratively with the rest of the board, has chosen to rely on media campaigns, social media narratives, anonymous social media accounts and political rhetoric. We would not tolerate this kind of behavior from our students.
Many of the claims made in this letter are either false, misleading, or presented without the full context. The authors know there are legal and ethical limits to what can be publicly discussed, particularly regarding confidential personnel matters. It is easy to make accusations when the facts cannot be fully disclosed. To continue to target Mr. Andrew is cowardly and disingenuous.
What is most troubling is that this effort does nothing to benefit our students, staff, or taxpayers. It creates division and drama while ignoring the real progress being made. This board recently adopted a preliminary budget with a 0% tax increase, reached a new collective bargaining agreement with the teachers, and continues to prioritize critical facility improvements, including repairs at Pine Elementary School. These are tangible accomplishments that directly serve our community.
For two years, I served in the minority on this board. During that time, I never sought to weaponize the media, create false narratives, or undermine the work of my colleagues because I disagreed with their decisions. Public service requires collaboration, compromise, and respect for differing viewpoints.
Unfortunately, some individuals appear more interested in political games, personal agendas, and avoiding accountability than in finding solutions. The community deserves better than constant conflict and manufactured outrage. They deserve board members who actually show up to meetings, who take their role seriously and work out differences in good faith discussion.
This letter is simply childish gamesmanship. Our focus should remain on responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, accountability at every level, and ensuring that every decision is made in the best interests of the students. That is where my focus has been and will remain. I encourage the signatories of this letter to consider a similar approach and engage directly with their fellow board members and set aside name calling, manufactured outrage and political grandstanding.
