🔗 Remembering Major Dick Winters and his ties to Lebanon County
80 years ago today, Lieutenant Dick Winters parachuted into Normandy as second-in-command of Easy Company (Company E of the 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne Division). He was thrust into leadership after his predecessor was killed in action. Today we remember Maj. Winters and all those who participated in Operation Overlord and saved the world from Nazi tyranny.
🔗 Band of Brothers is not the only World War II story out there
Dick Winters’ actions on June 6, 1944, made him one of the world’s most famous soldiers as the leader of the“Band of Brothers” — a company of 101st Airborne paratroopers immortalized in a book and an HBO mini-series.
