Anna J. (Nan) Johnston, 95, of Harrisburg and formerly of Palmyra and Jonestown (Greenpoint), PA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at River’s Bend Health and Rehab Center, Harrisburg, PA.
Born in Lebanon (Hebron), PA, on June 10, 1931, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Mabel E. (Hoke) Birch and the wife of the late Witwer Johnston and the late Franklin Krall.
She felt her greatest accomplishments were being a stay-at-home mom and becoming a grandmother. In later years, she worked as a secretary and retired at the age of 85 from Bernheisel Race Cars in Jonestown.
Nan was a member of Capital Bible Church, Harrisburg. She enjoyed gardening, baking, singing in church, southern gospel music, attending her grandsons’ ice hockey games, and shopping at Boscov’s. She was a huge fan of the Phillies and enjoyed cheering for the Eagles and Penn State as well. For many years, she was active with the Northern Lebanon Band Parents and served as Band Parent President for two years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Gray (Michael), of Harrisburg, PA, and Patti Oyler, of Landisville, PA; grandsons, Justin Oyler (Shelly), of Reisterstown, MD, and Joshua Oyler (Amanda), of Denver, PA; and great-granddaughter, Madison Oyler. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Leib, Edith Hummel, and Patricia Bernheisel; and brother, Barry Birch.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, at noon, at the Capital Bible Church, 7900 Capital Dr., Harrisburg, PA 17112. The family will receive friends at 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
