Anne Oswald Ail, 94, of Elizabethtown, entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. She was the wife of the late Rev. Richard Robert Ail, who entered heaven in 2014.
Anne was born in Swarthmore on Oct. 7, 1931, to the late Girard and Elsie (Altenderfer) Oswald. She was a 1949 graduate of Lebanon High School. She went on to Millersville University, Kutztown University, and Central Penn Business School, where she obtained her associate degree. She worked for AAA in Camp Hill as a travel agent and for Hershey Medical Center in the outpatient scheduling department. She was a member of Newville Bible Church, Elizabethtown.
Early on, when she married, her husband, Richard, was a career meteorologist in the Air Force for over 24 years. This career sent them on adventures to Alaska and the Philippines. Once retired, her husband graduated from seminary and went into ministry as a pastor, and she took on the blessing and challenge of being a pastor’s wife. One of her greatest loves was raising her four children and then watching the family grow, always taking an interest in what was happening in their lives. She became involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship and taught Sunday school. Anne was an adaptive, strong servant of the Lord with a pioneer spirit. Being a pastor’s wife, she was involved with all things pertaining to the church and its mission.
Anne was an avid reader eager to learn new things and particularly enjoyed biographies. She greatly enjoyed working in the kitchen, always trying new recipes. She was adept at canning, preserving, and making meals from scratch. Although an excellent cook in the kitchen, she still enjoyed dining out with family and friends. Singing was an important part of Anne’s life; she took professional voice lessons and was an excellent singer. In her later years, she was a supporter of Turning Point Ministries.
Surviving are her sons, Timothy S. Ail, of Palmyra, and Robert A. Ail, and his wife, Ellen (Eifert), of Palmyra; daughter-in-law, Beth (DeLiberty) Ail (wife of Daniel); six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her children, Daniel S. Ail and Dr. Suzanne Marie Ail; daughter-in-law, Sharon (Blauch) Ail (wife of Timothy); brother, Martin “Bud” Oswald, and his wife, Viola; sister, Charlotte Boltz, and her husband, Jack; step-brother-in-law, Leonard Snyder, and his wife, Betty; and sister-in-law, Margarette Spangler.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Newville Bible Church, 819 Turnpike Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. There will be a visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Water Street Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 7508, Lancaster, PA 17604-7508. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.
