Bruce D. Johnson, 80, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at his home in Cornwall Manor with his family at his side on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. He was the husband of Sandra L. (Shepherd) Johnson, to whom he was married for 56 years.
Born in Sioux City, IA, he was the son of the late Clarence and Olga (Carlson) Johnson. Bruce graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1964 and was a 1968 graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial administration. He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1968 to 1974. Bruce worked as an industrial engineer for ALCOA from 1968 until his retirement in 2000, serving both in Davenport, IA, as a supervisor and in Lebanon, PA, as a controller and IT manager.
Bruce was the president of the Theta Xi fraternity, president of the Susquehanna Orchid Society, and member of the Lebanon Valley Wine Club, Lebanon Tennis Club, and the Susquehanna Iris Society. His hobbies included winemaking, photography, gardening, playing tennis, cultivating orchids, and attending family activities. Bruce nourished his faith at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon and was a devoted husband, father, and ‘Bpa,’ as he was known by his grandchildren. He was ever present at his daughters’ track meets, cross country races, and tennis matches. Bruce remained positive during his lengthy health challenges with Adult NPH, and he was always gracious, loving, and positive.
In addition to his wife, Sandra, he is survived by his daughters, Jennifer, wife of Michael Donten, of Lincoln University, PA, and Kristin, wife of Gregory Marks, of Macungie, PA; grandchildren, Noah and Rachel Donten, and Julia and Natalie Marks; and sister, Rhonda Hartmann, of Ingleside, TX.
A celebration of life will be held by his family at a later date.
