Carole Anna Knight MacFadden, 83, of Cornwall, PA, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026. Born in Columbia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Helen (Stauffer) Knight. She was married 57 years to her beloved husband, Howard MacFadden.
Carole was a graduate of Manheim Central High School and obtained her RN from the Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a nurse in the U.S. Air Force and a proud veteran. Carole was also a nurse at Hershey Hospital, Hershey Boys’ School, Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA, Chambersburg Hospital, and Lebanon OBGYN. Anyone who worked with Carole or received her care said she was the absolute best nurse. She was kind, selfless, a mother figure to many, and would help anyone. Carole loved to go to Rehoboth Beach, cheer on the Phillies and Hershey Bears, walk the rail trail with her companion, Bo, and read countless books. She was a longtime member of Cornwall United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, Carole is survived by her daughter, Mary, and her husband, Taggart Brown; step-daughter, Emily Griffith (Joel); step-son, Eric MacFadden (Kayla); nephew, Robert Anthony Kise; and cousins, Jim Propst and Janet Hilgert. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Kise and Roy Knight.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Cornwall United Methodist Church, 50 Freeman Dr., Lebanon, PA 17042. The family will receive guests beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
