Dorothy M. “Dot” (Flamm) Smith, of Annville/Cleona, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at Juniper Village in Lebanon.
Born on Jan. 5, 1939, Dot was a daughter of the late Philip Flamm and Magdalena “Blanche” Winter. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Philip, Joe, Betty, and Marie, all of Lebanon County.
Dot is survived by her children, Kyle (Joan) Smith, of Cleona, Kerry (Sharon) Smith, of Jonestown, Kristi Pennington (Tony Maddox), of Lititz, and Julie (Jason) Longreen, of Annville.
One of the greatest joys of Dot’s life was being a grandmother. She leaves behind nine grandchildren who loved their Grandma Dot dearly: Kevin, Matthew, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Shane, Mason, Keith, Andrew, and Alex. Her family continued to grow through the years, blessing her with 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
More than anything, Dot loved her family and friends. She had a way of making friends wherever she went, and many of these friendships began during her years at work. Dot spent 15 years at Laudermilch Meats, where it seemed that nearly everyone she spoke with soon became a friend. Prior to that, she spent many years working at Turkey Hill in Annville, where she became affectionately known as “Grandma Dot” to countless travelers, regular customers, college and high school students, and just about everyone in between.
Dot knew how to enjoy life. She loved playing bingo, trying her luck at the penny slots at the casino, and traveling whenever she had the opportunity. She was just as happy slowing things down with a cup of coffee and a good Amish book.
Her life touched more people than she could have ever known, and she will be incredibly missed by her family, friends, and the many people who simply knew and loved her as “Grandma Dot.”
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory in Annville. Interment will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of her service at the funeral home. All who knew and loved Dot are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Dot’s memory to Caring Hospice Services of Central Pennsylvania, whose compassion, care, and support were a tremendous comfort to Dot and her family during her final days.
