Ethel “Grammy” Herb, 97, of Lebanon, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 8, 2026, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by family. Having married Jack S. Herb Sr. in 1950, they enjoyed 46 years of marriage until his death in 1996.
Born in Mount Carmel on Nov. 16, 1928, Ethel Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Emmanuel E. and Clara Curry Kublic. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ferol Sheats, Shimer Kublic, and Dorothy Zellner. She is survived by her son, Jack S. Jr., husband of Ricky L., of Lebanon; grandchildren, Eric Sr., husband of Yvonne, of Jonestown, Steve Sr., husband of Traci, of Lebanon, and Amy, wife of Darrell Martin, of Lebanon; and great-grandchildren, Colton, husband of Paulina, of York, Azure, wife of Caleb Buchmoyer, of Myerstown, Eric Jr., husband of Mazzilyn, of Lebanon, Steve Jr., husband of Mackenzie, of Lebanon, Ethan, husband of Alyssa, of Lebanon, Sydney, of Jonestown, Zachariah, of Jonestown, and Jack, Seth, and Elizabeth Martin, of Lebanon; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Ethel was an active member of Lebanon Bible Fellowship Church. She sang solos in church services, weddings, and funerals, and she was an exciting Bible storyteller, having taught Sunday school, Bible school, and Child Evangelism. She and her husband owned and worked at Herb Sheet Metal until his death in 1996. She continued to manage the office until her retirement in 2014. She was known for her infectious laugh and for feeding her family well. Her baked beans and Black Joe Cake were always a hit and loved by many. Her door was always open, candy jars were always full, and cookie jar was always well-stocked. She kept busy on weekends by hosting Friday family game nights, serving egg sandwiches on Saturdays, and cooking family dinners on Sundays.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Lebanon Bible Fellowship Church, 1635 Mill Road, Lebanon, immediately followed by a compassion meal. There will be a viewing at the church from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Grand View Memorial Park, 500 N. Weaber St., Lebanon.
