Glinda Anne Atkinson of Mount Gretna, PA passed away at Spang Crest, Lebanon on Monday, December 30, 2024. She was born on April 13, 1940, in Lancaster PA and was a daughter of Edgar Woodrow and Charlotte K. (Showers) Atkinson. She is survived by her daughter, Allyson Heisey of Spotsylvania, Va.

Glin was a 1958 graduate of Manheim Central High School and had a natural aptitude for decorating and design. After years assisting in art and special education classes in the Manheim schools, she opened a business called The Quilt Patch selling antique quilts.

Mary Emmerling’s shop on Lexington Avenue in New York City was a client for Glin’s antique textiles and quilts. At Doneckers of Ephrata, Glin led design and display – of store windows, 1777 Carriage House Suites, and antiques. She styled sets for national magazines such as House Beautiful, Country Living and Early American Life. At the Tiger’s Eye in Lititz, Glin sold antiques and décor, and designed window displays.

Although she had no formal training, she decorated many private homes, selecting colors and furniture, window treatments, and shelving, blending old with new. She was always busy at Christmas with seasonal decorations.

Living in Mount Gretna since 1986, Glin could be found designing sets, props, and costumes for Gretna Theatre, décor for Theatre and Music, and staging rooms and display cases for The Mount Gretna Area Historical Society. Every Thursday night Glin joined friends for dinner at the Timbers. She supported her community in any way that she could. Her design work and affection for her friends will long be remembered.

Glin loved living in her tastefully decorated log cabin. In recent years, neighbors and friends provided meals, visits and rides to keep her at home until a move was necessary. Bellomo & Associates, an elder law firm that leads with social workers, worked with neighbors to arrange moves and care. Glin gave a lot to Mount Gretna and, in the end, the community took care of her.

Funeral Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
