Greg W. Mitchell, 76, formerly of Potter Township and most recently of Palmyra, PA, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, July 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family as his brother played acoustic guitar and sang some of his favorite melodies. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda L. (Gregory) Mitchell.
Born on Feb. 13, 1950, Greg was the son of the late Emerson J. and Isabelle M. (Simmons) Mitchell. In addition to his wife, Greg is survived by his son, Joshua J. Mitchell, and his significant other, Nikole Hill, of Potter Township, PA; daughter, Sara B. Czuchnicki, and her husband, Anthony, of Palmyra, PA; brother, John E. Mitchell, and his wife, Diane, of Hershey, PA; and beloved grandchildren, Trevor Mitchell, Nolan Czuchnicki, and Carter Czuchnicki, all of whom brought him tremendous joy, as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins who remained an important part of his life.
Born and raised along the coast of California, Greg developed a lifelong love for the outdoors and adventure. As a young man, he was an avid surfer and skateboarder, earned a place on one of the nation’s first skateboarding teams, appeared on the cover of Skateboarder Magazine, and was featured in other skateboarding and surfing articles throughout the years. After falling in love with Linda, he left the beaches of California and moved to Pennsylvania in 1980 to build a life and raise a family together. Once in Pennsylvania, his love of the outdoors continued through hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and motorcycle riding.
Greg spent much of his career as a Nissan technician before later becoming a service technician for industrial equipment. He was known for his mechanical ability, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. Whether repairing a family member’s vehicle, fixing things around the house, or teaching others how to solve a problem, Greg found joy in sharing what he knew. He was always willing to lend a hand and pass along his knowledge to anyone and everyone.
Retirement gave Greg the opportunity to pursue a new passion — playing the guitar. What began as a hobby quickly became a meaningful part of his life. Through Guitars for Vets, Greg became a volunteer instructor, teaching local veterans how to play the guitar while sharing his love of music, encouragement, and friendship. Music brought him peace, purpose, and joy, and he found great fulfillment in helping others discover the same.
Above all else, Greg was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and there was nothing more important to him than the people he loved. He faced his cancer with remarkable determination, fighting each day for more time with his family. He will be remembered for the life he built, the people he helped, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends.
A celebration of Greg’s life will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, at Center Township Veterans Post 1821, 144 Bunker Hill Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001. Kreamer Funeral Home, Annville, is handling the arrangements.
