Helen Mae Groh, 97, of Cornwall passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Cornwall Manor. She was the wife of the late, George A. Groh, Jr., who passed away in 2002.

Helen was born in Lancaster on May 5, 1923, to the late Harry E. Schweers and Ruth E. (King) White. Helen was a 1941 Cornwall High School graduate, homemaker, and custodian at the former Lebanon Tennis Club.

Helen was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Annville. She often enjoyed having Bible Study and singing at Cornwall Manor. Helen also participated in a neighborhood Bible study where she visited and helped bring seasonal programs to the American House where Helen was known as “Mom” to these residents.

She had a passion for music that would light up her face. Helen and her late husband George managed The Blue Ridge Boys band. She also enjoyed traveling, with her favorite places being Hawaii and California. Her passion for music, zest for life, and compassion for others were contagious. In her later years, she would often reflect on her time with George. We now find peace in knowing that she has been reunited with her one true love for eternity.
She was the last of her immediate family.

Helen is survived by a cousin, Jeanette Hillinger, of Lancaster PA, her special friends, Elizabeth “Betty” Mohn, Vickie Long, and Nancy Beck, and their families.

Our experiences with Helen were always rewarding and we feel that we are a better people from having been her friend. She will sadly be missed by everyone who knew her. So let’s all mourn our loss but celebrate the life she shared with us.
