Isabel Claire Zulker (nee Cox) of Richland, PA since 2005, and formerly a resident of Wayne, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2021. She was 91 years old. She is preceded in death on September 4, 2021, by her husband William Allen Zulker to whom she was married for 71 years. They had celebrated their anniversary together at home on June 10, 2021. They rejoined one another in the presence of their Lord and Savior after less than two weeks apart.
Born on February 9, 1930, in Bryn Mawr, PA, the daughter of the late William Coleman Cox and Carrie N. Cox of West Trenton, NJ, she had also lived in Philadelphia, Glenmore and Wayne, PA. She graduated from Trenton High School, Trenton, NJ and spent one year as a nurse-in-training at the Philadelphia General Hospital before her marriage. Having worked at the Philadelphia Life Insurance Company and the Philadelphia Presbytery of the United Presbyterian Church in the USA for several years, she owned and managed the Village Market in Wayne, PA, and later was the manager of the University Book Store at Eastern University, St. Davids, PA for twelve years. In her so-called retirement, she was a loving home-care provider for children in her own home in Wayne, PA for twelve years. To those many children, now grown, she is lovingly remembered as “Aunt Bell”.
She is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Ann Mellon and her husband James of Womelsdorf, PA; Barbara Jean Marshall and her husband William of Brewster, MA; Beverly Sue Vesper and her husband John of Media, PA; nine grandchildren: James Mellon IV and his wife Eleanor; Melissa Mellon; Jessica Mellon Robinson; Christopher Mellon and his wife Brianna, Deborah Mellon Cross and her husband Benjamin; John Vesper III and his wife Claire; William Vesper and his wife Alexis; Kate Vesper Mattero and her husband Nicholas; Sarah Vesper Newton and her husband Jeffrey; and eighteen great-grandchildren: AJ and Johnny Mellon; Isabelle and Annie Robinson; Mercy, Marshall, and Maggie Mellon; Kaylie, Peyton and Greyson Cross; Roman Vesper; Josie and Johnny Vesper; Jordan, Nicky, Vinny and Sydney Mattero; and Brooks Newton. “Goggy”, as she was known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be lovingly remembered for her warm and always welcoming hugs, the world’s best iced tea, and her enduring love of Jesus. There are also many nieces and nephews for whom “Aunt Is” will be dearly missed.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Zion United Methodist Church in Myerstown, PA with a visitation at 11:00 a.m. and a service at 12:00 p.m. followed by interment at Tulpehocken United Church of Christ in Richland, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators or Lebanon Rescue Mission.
