After notifying next of kin, North Cornwall Township Police have publicly identified the driver killed in last night’s crash on Cumberland Street/Route 422 as Kyann Ruth Schnoke, 22, of Womelsdorf.
According to the release, a witness saw the white Ford Explorer moving at a high rate of speed eastbound on 422 towards Lebanon before it veered off the road and struck a tree and fence before ending in the west side of the house, entering the living room.
Residents were safely removed from 2238 and 2240 W. Cumberland Street, but Schnoke was pronounced deceased at the scene by Deputy Coroner Leiby and transported to WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital.
Route 422 was closed for approximately 5 hours during this event. Responding authorities included North Cornwall Township Police Department; Annville-Cleona, Speedwell, Neversink, Ebenezer, South Lebanon and Lebanon City fire departments; Lebanon County Hazmat; and First Aid and Safety Patrol. (See our original article for more details about who responded.)
According to the release, an investigation is ongoing.
Good morning, I have updated the original post with more information about the fire police who handled roads and crowds during this event. Thank you for your question. See the details here: https://leb.town/2019/01/21/car-crash-into-house-across-from-mall-causes-3-alarm-blaze-driver-is-dead/
It wasn’t in the release but if you can help me confirm who did respond first, I will gladly update the post with that information.
So who closed the road or are the first responders not worthy of being noted ?
