The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has released its schedule for trout stocking ahead of the county’s March 30 opening day.

Lebanon is one of 18 southeastern Pennsylvania counties where trout season begins in March. The rest of the state opens on April 13.

There is also a Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day scheduled for March 23, a week before general opening. On this day, youth will be able to fish with their adult mentors. Get your license here.

“We know how important opening days are to Pennsylvanians, especially for families who will be making lifelong memories,” said PFBC hatcheries director Brian Wisner.

“As we grow these trout from eggs to adults, we not only aim to produce the quantity that anglers expect, but we take great pride in stocking high quality fish.”

The Quittapahilla is also included in the Keystone Select Stocked Trout Waters program, which means the stream will be stocked in part with large 14” – 20” trout. These large trout will be stocked at a rate of 175 to 225 per mile of stream, which the PFBC says is comparable to the numbers of similarly sized fish in Pennsylvania’s best wild trout waters

All fish are from the Pleasant Gap hatchery unless otherwise noted. More information available on the state’s adult trout stocking by county website.
