Giant Foods has begun collecting signatures at its Cleona store in support of a referendum that would drop the borough’s 70+ year status as a dry town.

“We support the initiative to change the Cleona Borough ordinance from dry to wet and would welcome the opportunity to pursue a license in order to offer a Beer and Wine Eatery in our Cleona store,” said Giant Foods spokesperson Ashley Flower.

The petition is able to be signed through March 12, 2019.

The signature process comes after news first broke earlier this month regarding Giant’s need to get a referendum.
