Bethel Township
Vehicle Accident – On Aug. 17, 2020 at 5:09 a.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2007 Mazda Mazda 3, driven by Operator 1, a 26 year old Harrisburg man, was traveling eastbound on I 78 East near mile marker 5.7. Operator 1 related he observed an object in the roadway and swerved Unit 1 to the right shoulder to avoid striking it. Unit 1 crossed the right shoulder before striking a guide rail on the right side of the roadway at its 11 o’clock position. Unit 1 slid along the guide rail before returning to the lane of travel. Unit 1 came to final rest facing north, blocking both eastbound travel lanes. Operator 1 did not suffer any injuries. Unit 1 was observed to have all-around disabling damage, including a smashed front bumper and visible damage on the driver’s side doors. Operator 1 was cited for Title 75: 1501(a), 1786(f), 3309(1), and 4581(a)(2)(ii). Unit 1 was towed from the scene by Joe May’s Towing. PSP Jonestown was assisted on scene by troopers from PSP Jonestown and Bethel Township Fire Department.
Cornwall Borough
Harassment – An 18 year old Lebanon resident has been cited for striking a 78 year old man in the face on Aug. 15, 2020 at 10:34 a.m. at her residence.
Heidelberg Township
Death By Natural Causes – On Aug. 15, 2020 at 2:04 p.m., PSP Jonestown troopers responded to Hardwood Dr. for a report of a death. Investigation revealed that the individual had an extensive medical history.
Reckless Endangerment – On June 7, 2020 at 6:30 p.m., this incident occurred as the Victim, a 3 year old Robesonia male, was taken to the 200 block of North Lancaster St. for a cookout. During the cookout, a fire was created to cook in the backyard of the residence. The Victim walked over to the fire and, while walking around the fire, lost his footing and fell in, suffering burns on his arms and legs. The Victim was transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment.
Jackson Township
Criminal Mischief Agricultural – This crime occurred between Aug. 15, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. and Aug. 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., when an unknown vehicle drove through the Victim’s cornfields at several locations on South Ramona Rd. The Victim was a 67 year old Lebanon man. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP Jonestown.
Lebanon City
Drug Possession – On Aug. 14, 2020 at 12:50 a.m., a traffic stop was initiated on the Arrestee’s vehicle, a 1999 Honda Civic, at the intersection of Chestnut St. and South 10th St. During the traffic stop, drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view. The Arrestee, a 26 year old Lancaster man, voluntarily surrendered a small amount of marijuana, prescription narcotic pills, a grinder, and a digital scale. A probable cause search of the Arrestee’s vehicle was conducted and yielded further drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending before MDJ Dissinger 52-1-01.
Myerstown Borough
Criminal Mischief Under $1,000 – On Aug. 16, 2020 at 10:44 a.m., PSP Jonestown troopers responded to the 200 block of North Railroad St. for a report of criminal mischief. Upon arrival, it was determined that unknown Actor(s) struck a window of the residence with 2 small bb’s, causing damage. The damage occurred overnight between Aug. 15, 2020 and Aug. 16, 2020. The Actor(s) then fled in an unknown direction by unknown means. The Victim was a 58 year old Myerstown man. PSP is investigating.
Death By Natural Causes – This incident occurred on Aug. 15, 2020 at 9:44 a.m. when the Victim was found deceased in her residence, located on East Carpenter Ave. Investigation revealed that the 68 year old Victim died of natural causes.
Theft – On Aug. 16, 2020 at 5:58 p.m., this crime occurred when the Victim, an 11 year old Myerstown male, left his scooter leaning against a tree at Myerstown Park, located on West Center Ave. and South College St. The Victim allowed several friends to ride the scooter. The Victim returned to the area where he left the scooter and it was gone. The stolen property was a Mad Gear scooter valued at $60.00.
Vehicle Accident – On Aug. 12, 2020 at 12:26 p.m., this crash occurred as Unit 2, a 1996 Mack Trucks CH613, driven by Operator 2, Vernon Wenger, a 49 year old Newmanstown man, was traveling north on SR 501 near its intersection with West Washington Ave. Unit 1, an unknown make and model, driven by Operator 1, a 25 year old Lebanon man, did not stop at the properly erected stop sign at this location and subsequently struck Unit 2’s trailing Unit. Operator 2 reported no injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital for further medical evaluation.
Criminal Mischief Under $1,000 – On Aug. 17, 2020 at 5:06 p.m., PSP Jonestown responded to South Locust St. for a report of a damaged front window. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown Actor shot a bb gun, damaging the Victim’s front porch window. The Victim was a 57 year old Myerstown woman. The damaged property included a front porch window valued at $500.00. Investigation is ongoing.
North Cornwall Township
Drug Possession – On Aug. 18, 2020 at 4:42 a.m., this incident occurred on the 600 block of Pondside Ln. Two 18 year old Lebanon men and a male juvenile (17 year old) were charged with a Small Amount of Marijuana after police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle.
North Lebanon Township
Drug Possession – On Aug. 16, 2020 at 2:03 a.m., at Tunnel Hill Rd. and North 22nd St., PSP Jonestown conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Honda Civic. The Operator of the vehicle was found to be in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Charges are to be filed.
Reckless Endangerment, Harassment, Criminal Mischief – John Ramp, a 26 year old Palmyra resident, was charged with Recklessly Endangering, Harassment, and Criminal Mischief after an incident that occurred on Aug. 7, 2020 at Tunnelhill Rd. and SR 72.
Retail Theft – Todd Storm, a 55 year old Lebanon resident, was charged with Retail Theft after an incident that occurred at the Lebanon Wal-Mart on June 10, 2020 after failing to pay for $26.00 worth of merchandise.
Loitering and Prowling – Roy Jones, a 45 year old Fredericksburg resident, was charged with Loitering and Prowling after an incident that occurred in the 1,900 block of SR 72.
North Londonderry Township
Harassment – A 34 year old Palmyra man was charged with Harassment stemming from an incident that occurred on Aug. 16, 2020 at 8:53 a.m on the 400 block of Barrington Crt. The man was previously warned by police but failed to comply with police request. The Victim was a 51 year old Palmyra man. A Harassment citation was filed with DJ Garver’s office.
South Londonderry Township
Harassment – South Londonderry Twp. police investigated an incident of harassment on July 13, 2020. After a police investigation, it was learned that a 26 year old Marietta man did harass his mother, a 51 year old Palmyra woman, by posting images that were disturbing to her and had no legitimate purpose for the images or content posted with the photos. The man was cited for Harassment.
Vehicle Accident – On July 31, 2020 at 5:00 p.m., this two-vehicle crash occurred on the 2,800 block of Horseshoe Pike, Palmyra. Unit 1, driven by Operator 1, a 31 year old Palmyra man, was heading westbound when he struck Unit 2, driven by Operator 2, a 22 year old Elizabethtown man, who was stopped at a traffic light on Horseshoe Pike. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Simple Assault – On Aug. 4, 2020 at 1:48 a.m., the South Londonderry Twp. police, with the assistance of the Palmyra Boro. police department, responded to the 20 block of Palmyra Rd. for a domestic dispute. Upon investigation, Stephen Yohn, a 24 year old Palmyra resident, was arrested for causing bodily injury to a female resident also of the 20 block of Palmyra Rd.
Vehicle Accident – On Aug. 6, 2020 at 11:02 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Rt. 322 and Rt. 117. Unit 1, a Honda Accord, driven by Operator 1, a 24 year old Harrisburg resident, made a left turn in front of Unit 2, a Kia SUV, driven by Operator 2, a 17 year old Palmyra female, who was driving south on Rt. 117. Unit 2 had the right-of-way at the time of the crash. Unit 1 had to be towed from the scene.
Vehicle Accident, Stop Sign Violation – On Aug. 6, 2020 at approximately 8:38 p.m., the South Londonderry Twp. police department was dispatched to the area of Harvest Rd. and Lawn Hill Rd. for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Police arrived on-scene and conducted an accident investigation. Both Operators, Operator 1, a 44 year old West Palm Beach, FL man, and Operator 2, a 52 year old Lawn woman, denied the need for emergency medical treatment at the scene. Operator 1 was issued a citation for failing to ensure a clear distance at a stop sign before entering the roadway.
Swatara Township
Vehicle Accident – On Aug. 13, 2020 at 8:45 p.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2019 Subaru XV Crosstrek, driven by Operator 1, a 37 year old Mechanicsburg woman, was traveling west on I 78 West approaching mile marker 4.1 in the right lane. As Unit 1 was traveling between mile marker 4.1 and mile marker 4.0 on I 78 West, there was a large metal pole (approximately 12-15 feet in length with a dark-colored nylon covering resembling something used for large tents) lying in the right lane in that area. As a result of the dark coloring of the object and its location in the roadway, Unit 1 drove over the object with its rear tire/wheel, causing disabling damage to the rotor/brake assembly of that wheel. Operator 1 was able to drive her vehicle, with difficulty, to the area of I 78 West at mile marker 3.8 and onto the right shoulder under the vehicle’s own power. This was where Unit 1 came to final rest, facing west, becoming disabled at this location. This was the scene upon trooper’s arrival. There were no injuries as a result of this crash.
Vehicle Accident – On Aug. 16, 2020 at 3:31 a.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Operator 1, a 47 year old Macungie man, was traveling southbound on I 81 near mile marker 92.8. Operator 1 was traveling too fast for conditions when he applied the brakes, causing the second trailing portion to sway to the right and subsequently back to the left. As the second trailing unit swayed back to the left, it caused Unit 1 to jackknife. Unit 1 hit an embankment on the left shoulder of the roadway at its 11 o’clock position. Unit 1 then traversed approximately 200 feet before the second trailing portion struck a guide rail on the left side of the roadway, just beyond the shoulder. Unit 1, as well as the first and second trailing portions, came to final rest in the grass median beyond the left shoulder of the roadway. Unit 1 was observed to have sustained heavy all-around damage, including both front tires being torn from the rims and heavy damage to the engine compartment at the 11 o’clock position. The second trailing portion was observed to be laying on its right side with its roof torn open. Operator 1 did not sustain any injuries. Operator 1 was cited for Title 75: 3361, Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed. Unit 1 was towed from the scene by Bethel Truck Service. PSP Jonestown was assisted on scene by troopers from PSP Jonestown, Pennsylvania State Police Motor Carrier Enforcement, and Northern Lebanon Fire Department.
Harassment – On Aug. 18, 2020 at 9:04 p.m., PSP Jonestown responded to Swatara Rd. for a report of a verbal argument. Upon arrival, it was determined that the argument escalated and turned into a physical altercation. The Arrestee, a 30 year old Slatington man, is to be cited with Harassment via Non-Traffic Citation. The Victims were a 34 year old Lebanon woman and a 9 year old Lebanon male.
Tremont Township
Drug Possession – On Aug. 12, 2020 at 12:50 p.m., at Tremont Rd. and Molleystown Rd., a traffic stop conducted on a 1995 Ford Windstar by members of PSP Jonestown yielded the seizure of marijuana and additional drug paraphernalia. The Arrestee was a 27 year old Lebanon man. Charges for this incident have been filed in Magisterial District Court 21-3-03.
Union Township
DUI – On July 27, 2020 at approximately 2:48 p.m., troopers from PSP Jonestown responded to a four-vehicle crash on SR 72. Upon arrival on scene, troopers identified Operator 1, a 29 year old Lebanon woman, who admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to driving. Standardized Field Tests were performed on scene which indicated the presence that Operator 1 was impaired at the time of the crash. Operator 1 was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and was transported to PSP Jonestown for a Chemical Breath Test. The other vehicles involved included a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, a 2019 Kawasaki (Japan), a 2015 BMW X5 X5M, and a 2007 Infiniti QX4. (Editor’s Note: Operator 1 not identified in release.)
West Cornwall Township
Vehicle Accident – On Aug. 12, 2020 at 4:27 p.m., this crash occurred on SR 72, just south of the SR 419 intersection. Unit 1, driven by Operator 1, a 32 year old Lebanon resident, and Unit 2, driven by Operator 2, a 59 year old Lebanon resident, were involved in the crash. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Both vehicles were drivable.
West Lebanon Township
Retail Theft, Drug Possession – Nelson Taylor, a 26 year old with no permanent address, was charged with Retail Theft, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after an incident that occurred on Aug. 11, 2020 at Rutter’s, located at 1621 West Cumberland St.
