East Hanover Township
Harassment – On Nov. 11, 2020 at 12:32 p.m., this crime occurred on Racehorse Dr. as the Accused went to his residence and got into a verbal altercation with the Victim. The Accused punched the Victim in the face and then kicked him in the buttocks. Harassment charges are to be filed through MDJ Ditzler. The Accused was a 77 year old Jonestown man. The Victim was a 68 year old Jonestown man.
Harassment – On Nov. 10, 2020 at 6:48 p.m., this crime occurred on Racehorse Dr. as both of the Accused got into a verbal altercation while intoxicated. The altercation escalated when the female Accused struck the male Accused in the head with a cigarette roller. The male Accused subsequently struck the female Accused with an open hand. Charges of Harassment are to be filed on both of the Accused. The Accused were a 49 year old Jonestown woman and a 77 year old Jonestown man.
Vehicle Accident – On Nov. 9, 2020 at 9:50 a.m., this single-vehicle crash occurred on I 81 Northbound at mile marker 82.4 in East Hanover Twp. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, driven by Operator 1, a 45 year old Frederick, MD woman, accompanied by Passenger 1, a 14 year old Frederick, MD female, was traveling northbound on I 81, south of mile marker 82.4, in the righthand lane. As Unit 1 was traveling north, it left the roadway into the grass and overturned. Operator 1 and Passenger 1 were injured as a result of this crash. Both Operator 1 and Passenger 1 sustained suspected serious injuries and were transported to Hershey Medical Center by Life Lion EMS. Unit 1 was heavily damaged and towed from the scene. Operator 1 was cited for Driving On Roadways Laned For Traffic.
Heidelberg Township
Vehicle Accident – On Nov. 10, 2020 at 6:07 p.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2017 Audi A3, driven by Operator 1, a 26 year old Myerstown man, was traveling east on East Market St. in Heidelberg Twp. Unit 1 was traveling east at the above location when deer walked north across the roadway. Unit 1 subsequently hit the deer with its frontal portion. Unit 1 sustained disabling impact damage to its frontal portion as a result. This damage included a damaged frontal portion which was pushed in and a cracked windshield. Unit 1’s front and driver’s side curtain airbags were deployed. Operator 1 did not sustain any injuries as a result of this crash. Unit 1 was towed by United Towing.
Vehicle Accident – On Nov. 11, 2020 at 6:51 p.m., this reportable crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2008 Acura TL, driven by Operator 1, a 17 year old Denver male, accompanied by Passenger 1, a 17 year old Reinholds male, and Passenger 2, a 19 year old Athens man, was traveling northbound on Stiegel Rd., SR 501, just south of Cherry Lane Rd. in Heidelberg Twp. Operator 1 was attempting to negotiate a right curve when he lost control and Unit 1 exited the roadway and struck a utility pole and then struck a fence before coming to final rest. Initial impact occurred as the front right quarter panel of Unit 1 struck the utility pole off the west side of the roadway and then the front bumper of Unit 1 struck a farm fence. Unit 1 came to final rest facing west, partially in the southbound lane. Unit 1 was towed from the scene. Operator 1 sustained no injuries as a result of this crash. Passenger 1 and Passenger 2 both sustained injuries as a result of this crash. Passenger 1 was not transported. Passenger 2 was transported via Schaefferstown EMS to the Hershey Medical Center. Operator 1 was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.
Vehicle Accident – On Nov. 11, 2020 at 9:09 p.m., this reportable crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Operator 1, a 19 year old Denver man, was traveling southbound on Cherry Lane Rd., just north of Gibble Rd. in Heidelberg Twp. Operator 1 was traveling southbound and became distracted. When Operator 1 looked back up at the roadway, he realized he was traveling towards a utility pole and turned quickly, but lost control of Unit 1. Unit 1 exited the roadway and struck the utility pole. Initial impact occurred as the right side of Unit 1 struck the utility pole off the west side of the roadway. Unit 1 came to final rest facing south on the east side of Cherry Lane Rd. Unit 1 was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving On Roadways Laned For Traffic.
Myerstown Borough
Harassment – On Nov. 13, 2020 at 5:22 p.m., troopers of PSP Jonestown station were dispatched to East Bahney Ave. for a report of a domestic dispute. Through further investigation, it was determined that the Accused struck the Victim with a closed fist in the left arm. The Accused was cited via NTC. The Accused was a 50 year old Myerstown man. The Victim was a 23 year old Myerstown man.
South Londonderry Township
Reported Break-Ins Or Attempted Break-Ins Of Vehicles – On Nov. 13, 2020 between 12:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., several residents on Whippoorwill Dr., Stanley Ave., and Mockingbird Ln. reported break-ins or attempted break-ins of their vehicles overnight. Among the items stolen was a silver-colored EA Witness 9mm handgun. Police are asking any residents in the Forest Ridge/Weaber Development area with surveillance cameras to check video from early this morning for possible suspect identification.
Swatara Township
Assault – On Nov. 13, 2020 at approximately 1:10 p.m., PSP Jonestown troopers responded to Lighthouse Dr. for a report of an inactive domestic. Investigation revealed that the mother was struck in the head by the daughter with a cellphone. The Victim was a 40 year old Jonestown woman. PSP is investigating.
Union Township
Vehicle Accident, Fatalities – On Nov. 11, 2020 at approximately 3:11 p.m., PSP Jonestown responded to a reported crash on I 81 South at mile marker 87.5. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Operator 1, was traveling behind Unit 2, a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Operator 2, in the right lane of I 81 South. Unit 2 was slowing for traffic conditions and was struck by Unit 1. Following the collision with Unit 2, Unit 1 was rear-ended by Unit 3, a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Operator 3, which was subsequently pushed into Unit 2, causing Unit 1 to be pinned between Unit 2 and Unit 3. As a result of the collision, Unit 1 caught on fire and the Occupants were entrapped inside the vehicle. Unit 1’s Occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. This investigation is ongoing and further details will be released at a later time. Operator 1 was cited for Following Too Closely.
Update: As of Nov. 13, 2020, PSP Jonestown is awaiting positive identification of the Victims in this crash. An update will follow once identification is made.
Vehicle Accident – On Nov. 11, 2020 at 7:37 p.m., this crash occurred at the intersection of Fisher Ave. and Bordnersville Rd. in Union Twp. Unit 1, a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Operator 1, was traveling eastbound in the righthand lane of Fisher Ave., nearing its intersection with Bordnersville Rd. While negotiating the righthand turn onto Bordnersville Rd., Unit 1 struck a ground wire attached to a MET ED utility pole, causing the wires to become loose. MET ED was notified of the incident. Unit 1 sustained damage to the passenger’s side. The right-side air deflector was cracked. Operator 1 was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and reported no injuries. No airbags in Unit 1 were deployed as a result of this crash. Unit 1 was driven from the scene by Operator 1. Operator 1 was issued an Application to Receive a Copy of the Crash Report (SP 7-20015TX) on scene.
Drug Possession – On Nov. 9, 2020 at 9:05 a.m., at Awol Rd. and Hoover Dr., troopers of PSP Jonestown station initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. A consent search was granted. Drugs and numerous items of related paraphernalia were seized. The vehicles involved included a 2003 Honda Pilot.
Vehicle Accident – On Nov. 11, 2020 at 2:59 p.m., this single tractor-trailer crash occurred on I 81 Southbound in the area of mile marker 91.2 in Union Twp. This crash occurred when Operator 1, a 45 year old Alexandria, VA man, lost control of the rear end of their trailer. Operator 1 subsequently lost control of Unit 1, a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia, and its trailer and exited the left side of I 81 Southbound and entered the median. Unit 1 came to final rest in the median of I 81 Southbound facing east and its trailer facing south. Operator 1 was not injured as a result of this crash. Unit 1 sustained disabling damage to its front end and rear axle due to jackknifing its trailer. Unit 1 was towed from the scene by Motter’s Trucking Service. Operator 1 was cited for Driving On Roadways Laned For Traffic.
