Bethel Township
Vehicle Accident – On May 17, 2021 at 10:36 p.m., this collision occurred as Unit 1, a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan, driven by Operator 1, a 19 year old Mechanicsburg woman, was driving west on I 78 in the left lane when Operator 1 dropped her phone on the floor. Unit 1 traveled off of the left side of the roadway, where it struck the guide wire and several posts. Unit 1 came to final rest in the median, facing in a northwest direction. Operator 1 was not injured as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Careless Driving.
City of Lebanon
DUI – On May 16, 2021 at 2:47 a.m., troopers of PSP Jonestown station initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations on North 12th St. and Maple St. During the traffic stop, the Operator was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. This investigation is ongoing. The vehicles involved included a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
East Hanover Township
Vehicle Accident – On May 16, 2021 at 2:46 p.m., this crash occurred on Jonestown Rd., approximately 15 yards east of its intersection with North State Route 934 in East Hanover Twp. Unit 1, a 1998 Honda CRV, driven by Operator 1, a 25 year old Harrisburg woman, accompanied by Passenger 1, a 48 year old Harrisburg woman, Passenger 2, a 3 year old Harrisburg female, and Passenger 3, a 2 year old Harrisburg female, was traveling north on State Route 934, turning east onto Jonestown Rd. Unit 2, a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country (minivan), driven by Operator 2, a 54 year old Lebanon man, accompanied by Passenger 4, a 58 year old Lebanon woman, and Passenger 5, a 1 year old Lebanon male, was traveling west on Jonestown Rd., and was stopped at a stop sign. Unit 1 crossed into Unit 2’s lane of travel, striking Unit 2. Unit 1 sustained minor front-end damage and was towed from the scene by H & S. Unit 2 sustained minor front-end damage and was driven from the scene by Operator 2. Neither Operator 1, Operator 2, nor any Passengers sustained injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.
Vehicle Accident – On May 16, 2021 at 1:34 p.m., this crash occurred on Allentown Blvd. at its intersection with Indiantown Gap Rd. in East Hanover Twp. Unit 1, a 2015 Ford Fusion, driven by Operator 1, an 84 year old Jonestown man, accompanied by Passenger 1, an 83 year old Jonestown woman, was traveling northbound on Indiantown Gap Rd., preparing to cross Allentown Blvd. Unit 2, a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by Operator 2, Camaron Bates, an 18 year old Jonestown man, was traveling west on Allentown Blvd. Unit 1 struck Unit 2 in the middle of the intersection. Unit 1 came to final rest in the westbound lanes of Allentown Blvd. Unit 2 came to final rest in the eastbound lanes of Allentown Blvd. Unit 1 and Unit 2 both sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Blatt and Tillett. Operator 1 and Passenger 1 sustained suspected minor injuries as a result of this crash and were transported via Life Lion to the Hershey Medical Center, an area hospital. Operator 2 sustained minor injuries as a result of this crash and was not transported. PSP Jonestown was assisted on scene by members of PSP Jonestown, Lebanon County fire companies, and Life Lion EMS. Operator 1 was cited for Stop Signs and Yield Signs.
Heidelberg Township
Runaway – This incident occurred on the 400 block of Sheep Hill Rd. On May 16, 2021 at approximately 12:15 a.m., State Police responded to the 200 block of West Lincoln Ave. in Myerstown for a report of a missing juvenile, a 16 year old B/N-F. Through investigation, it was determined that the juvenile’s mother dropped her off for work on May 15, 2021 at approximately 5:00 p.m. The juvenile left work at approximately 5:30 p.m. The juvenile did not return to work. The juvenile’s foster mother returned to pick up the juvenile from work on May 16, 2021 at approximately 12:15 a.m. and determined that the juvenile was missing. On May 17, 2021, the missing juvenile was located in New Jersey. The juvenile was subsequently picked up by the Lebanon County CYS and returned to Lebanon County. The runaway was a 16 year old Newmanstown female.
Vehicle Accident – On May 11, 2021 at 5:51 a.m., this crash occurred on State Route 897 at its intersection with Stricklerstown Rd. in Heidelberg Twp. This crash occurred as Operator 1, a 51 year old Newmanstown man, driving Unit 1, a 2017 Audi Q5, proceeded through a posted STOP sign without clearance on Stricklerstown Rd., attempting to turn left to travel east on State Route 897. Operator 2, a 26 year old Denver man, driving Unit 2, a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, was traveling west on State Route 897 in Unit 2 as Unit 1 proceeded through the posted STOP sign. Unit 2 subsequently struck Unit 1. Unit 1 sustained heavy and disabling damage to its entire driver’s side portion at the 9 o’clock position, coming to final rest just west of its intersection in the eastbound travel lane of State Route 897, facing north. Unit 2 sustained heavy and disabling damage to its front-end portion at the 12 o’clock position, coming to final rest along the right shoulder of State Route 897, facing west. Debris from Unit 1 and Unit 2 were scattered across both travel lanes of State Route 897. Operator 1 was transported via Western Berks Ambulance Association to the Good Samaritan Hospital in the City of Lebanon for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of this crash. Operator 2 was transported via Schaefferstown EMS to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of this crash. Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 were towed from the scene by C.J. Wagner’s Towing. Operator 1 was cited for Stop Signs and Yield Signs.
Jackson Township
Vehicle Accident – On May 16, 2021 at 2:45 p.m., this crash occurred on Kutztown Rd., approximately 60 feet north of Kutztown Rd., in Jackson Twp. This crash involved Unit 1, driven by Operator 1, an 18 year old Lebanon City man, accompanied by Passenger 1, a 17 year old Lebanon City male, Passenger 2, a 17 year old Lebanon City male, and Passenger 3, a 15 year old Lebanon City male. Operator 1 was not injured as a result of this crash. It is unknown whether Passenger 1 was injured as a result of this crash. Passenger 2 sustained suspected serious injury as a result of this crash. Passenger 3 sustained suspected minor injury as a result of this crash.
Myerstown Borough
Criminal Mischief Under $1,000 – On May 12, 2021 at 9:30 p.m., troopers of PSP Jonestown station were dispatched to South Railroad St. for a report of criminal mischief. It was determined that the Suspect caused damage to a garage door. The Victim was a 42 year old Richland man. The damaged property included a White Wooden Man Door, valued at $300.00. This investigation is ongoing.
Union Township
DUI – On May 16, 2021 at 1:34 a.m., State Police conducted a traffic stop on a 2019 Ford Fiesta on SR 72 and Awol Rd. During the stop, the Arrestee displayed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for DUI. Charges have been filed. The Arrestee was Christian Gomez, a 21 year old Oahu, HI man.
