The 21st annual Anne Fund Sports Memorabilia Auction, which raises money to fight cancer in local children, will again be held virtually this year.

Bidding opens online at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, and ends at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29.

The auction offers 20 “one-of-a-kind items autographed by stars of yesterday and today” and a variety of gift baskets, according to a press release. Sports stars represented in the fundraiser include Mike Schmidt, Jaylen Hurts, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Jack Nicklaus, Josh Allen, Jim Craig, Mike Tyson, Alex Morgan and more.

The auction was first organized 21 years ago in memory of Anne Gerhart, mother of former Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Tom Gerhart, who lost her battle with cancer.

Auctions so far have raised more than $350,000 for cancer treatment and research. This year’s auction will benefit the WellSpan Sechler Family Cancer Center, as well as the American Cancer Society and the Hershey Palmyra Sertoma Club.

Opened in 2016, the WellSpan Sechler Family Cancer Center offers chemotherapy, infusion therapy and radiation treatment and provides physician offices, a pharmacy, a massage therapy program, a spiritual care center, and offices for social workers and dietitians.

The auction first went virtual in October 2020, after the in-person event was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns in April of that year.
