The Hershey Story Museum has released details on its 2022 History Contest for Young Writers.

Now in its 22nd year, the writing contest is offered by the museum to encourage students to communicate their interest in and knowledge of history. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges, consisting of historians, educators and community leaders.

Eligible students may submit an entry in one of four categories: non-fiction, fiction, poetry or the history of science/health. Entries will be accepted through Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022. Registration background info and registration form are available through the Hershey Story’s website.

Each student who wins first place will receive $100, a family membership to The Hershey Story, tickets to Hersheypark, and a Hershey’s Chocolate gift basket.

Last year’s competition received 240 submissions from fifth- through eighth-grade students from Adams, Dauphin, Cumberland, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties. 16 students were named winners, of which five represented Lebanon County schools. First-place winners were recognized at a ceremony held at Hershey Gardens. The Hershey Story has also begun publishing winning submissions on its website.
