The Humane Society of Lebanon County is offering a few “Seniors for Seniors” adoption specials to celebrate National Adopt A Senior Pet Month.

In a press release, the Humane Society offered a few reasons why you might want to consider adopting a senior pet:

  • More likely to be potty trained and understand commands
  • Seniors are the most difficult pets to find homes for
  • More likely to be calmer and less energetic
  • With a senior, what you see is what you get – body and personality are well developed

For the entire month, seniors are eligible to adopt a senior cat (five years old or more) for $10. The Humane Society is also offering a discounted adult cat adoption fee of $20.00 for senior citizens. For anyone bringing home a senior dog, the adoption fee is just $50.

“Please consider adding to your family, we desperately need adoptions at this time,” said the Humane Society in a release. “What better way to say goodbye to the completely overwhelming past year than to adopt our all of our seniors!”

The Humane Society noted that pet food company Stella & Chewy offers senior pet adoption reimbursements for free, including a complimentary bag of pet food.
