A shooting Wednesday night, Feb. 23, in the vicinity of the Lebanon Middle School left one adult male dead, said Lebanon City Police in a press release Thursday morning, with suspects currently being developed.
Police said they were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired on the 300 block of North 8th Street around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday night, with a second report following that referenced a male victim lying on the sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds.
Police said the 32-year-old male victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. A full autopsy will follow to confirm the cause of death.
Police are not disclosing the victim’s name at this time but said he was a Lebanon resident. Police said they suspect the victim was targeted and they do not believe the general public is in danger. However, the shooter remains at large.
“At this time, there is no evidence this incident is related to the South Lebanon Township homicide,” said city police Chief Todd Breiner in the release.
A homicide investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information to contact the Lebanon City Police Department at 717-272-2054 or CrimeStoppers at 717-207-9800.
