Although rumors have been rampant for months that Dunkin’ was planning a move into the former Sonic location in North Londonderry Square, LebTown has had trouble confirming this – until today.

A spokesperson for Dunkin’ confirmed via email Thursday, May 5, that the company is planning a summer 2022 opening for another new Palmyra area cafe, this one at 81 N. Londonderry Square. Last year, the company opened up a franchise just down down the road in Campbelltown.

The parcel formerly occupied by Sonic remains owned by Lavipour & Company, which controls the majority of the North Londonderry Square complex. Lavipour & Company had not responded to requests for comment by press time.

The former Sonic location has been the subject of much speculation, including rumors for a time that it would soon be home to a Chick-Fil-A, perhaps Lebanon Countians’ most-desired franchise, based on online chatter.

Meanwhile, land development plans for another new Dunkin’ location in Jackson Township are currently making their way through approval processes. That location would be at 291 W. Lincoln Avenue.

More information about potential opening dates for both locations is expected in the coming months.
