The Lebanon County Democratic Committee elected Matt Duvall to succeed Dan Sidelnick as committee chairman at its June 29 reorganization meeting.
Sidelnick had held the position for four years before giving it up this year.
Duvall, an Annville resident, previously ran against Russ Diamond for the 102nd state House seat.

Duvall works as a lecturer for the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education and holds a Ph.D. from Drexel University in educational leadership and instructional technologies.
According to a press release, more than 100 committee members attended the meeting. Also elected were LeAnne Burchik as county vice-chair, Cesar Liriano as city vice-chair, Lorraine Scudder as recording secretary, Pam Tricamo as corresponding secretary, and Dave Haller as treasurer.
“My goal is for us to stand up for the people who feel they are not being well represented in government,” said Duvall in a press release. “Particularly now, with women’s rights to bodily autonomy, issues of racial equity and attacks on the LGBTQ community.
“We want to make sure government is working for everybody, not just the few.”
Duvall said he also hopes to improve voter registration so everyone has easy and understandable access to voting.
“We need to empower people to have a voice in our democracy.”
Duvall also praised outgoing chairman Sidelnick for his leadership “during a stressful time for the party and the country.”
Editor’s Note: The Republican committee recently elected a new chairman as well. Stay tuned for LebTown coverage of that story next week.
