LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.
This week, meet Mr. Tony!
Mr. Tony is a 3-year-old tuxedo cat. His owner, Karen Miller of West Lebanon Township, said she and her family had always had dogs, but when she lost her last pup after Christmas, she decided to get a cat from the Humane Society of Lebanon County shelter in Myerstown.
“I went up and down every section, I looked in the crates at the cats (but) I wasn’t finding anything that was suitable,” Karen says. She sat down for a moment, she recalls, “and when I did this cat came out of nowhere, approached me … and start rubbing my leg and purring.” A woman working at the shelter told her the friendly kitty had only been there for a few days.
“He was so friendly,” Karen says. And under his chin she found a heart-shaped indentation that endeared her to him even more.
She has been happy with her choice ever since.
“He’s very affectionate,” she says. “He wakes me up every morning around 4:30 a.m. No lie, I go downstairs, make half a pot of coffee and I give him a half a scoop of dry cat food.”
Mr. Tony also “loves to investigate the house from the basement to the attic,” Karen adds. “He’s a snuggle bug and a great little guy to have around! I love him so much.”
She has to be careful when leaving the house, however; Karen says sometimes Tony will grab her leg as she walks by.
We’re so glad Karen and Mr. Tony found each other … and if you see Karen out walking, check to be sure our Pet of the Week isn’t clinging to her leg!
