Residents of Lebanon County have the opportunity to weigh in on the future of freight transport in eastern Pennsylvania.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Freight Alliance (EPFA), a 10-county consortium, has launched a survey as part of its new Freight Infrastructure Plan, currently under development.

The EPFA, which includes the Lebanon County Metropolitan Planning Organization, is aimed at addressing the unique challenges and opportunities associated with the growing freight industry in the region. Issues such as mobility, safety, land usage, and maintaining transportation infrastructure in a state of good repair are among their primary concerns.

The infrastructure plan is focused on documenting the challenges associated with the movement of freight. Specifically, the study will aim to understand truck movement patterns in the region, identify transportation bottlenecks, pinpoint safety issues including crash clusters, and identify potential areas for freight land-use growth.

To achieve their objectives, the EPFA seeks to develop a list of prioritized improvements within their study area. This could range from specific intersections or interchanges to corridor enhancements or even policy alterations.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the brief survey, which should take only 5-10 minutes to complete. Planners say that local input is crucial for the EPFA as they work to identify the challenges and opportunities present in the region.

The survey is available at www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZWNFHPR.
