An 82-year-old hardwood manufacturer based in Lebanon County is now catering to the do-it-yourself market with home deliveries.
Weaber, based at 1231 Mount Wilson Road in South Annville Township, unveiled the new DIY branch of its business in December.
The product selection includes pre-finished solid oak slats, weathered wall boards, poplar and oak hobby boards, and poplar and oak squares, according to a release on PR Newsire. Weaber also offers online instructions and overview videos for the products.
All products are made in the U.S.

According to the release, 50 percent of the DIY market is composed of people in the 21 to 40 age range, many of whom are already juggling work and family demands. Weaber’s new delivery service eliminates the need to travel to a retail outlet for project materials.
The company’s online store offers DIY products in a range of sizes, natural wood tones and finishes to suit the home improvement market.
“Today’s DIY customers rely heavily on the internet for product research and inspiration, so it makes sense to offer them the ability to buy the products they’re looking for online as well,” Weaber CEO Matt Weaber said in the release. “While product selection may vary in retail stores, ordering from our online store ensures customers will be able to get the products they want and have them shipped right to their homes.”
According to a brief in BizNewsPA, the move supplements Weaber’s existing sales through big-box home improvement stores, wholesale distributors and other outlets.
The company ramped up its marketing to consumers in 2016 when its branded wallboard products started flying off the shelves of Home Depot, Darren Grier, marketing manager and senior graphic designer for the family-owned company, told BizNewsPA. Interest in the product led to questions from do-it-yourselfers about where they could buy Weaber products, he said.
Planning began in 2019 but was delayed by the pandemic, he said.
Beginning as a local sawmill, the company was founded in 1941 by Walter H. Weaber and has been family-owned and operated for three generations. Since then, Weaber has grown into one of the leading hardwood manufacturers in the U.S., specializing in flooring, wall boards, moldings and more.
“Weaber harvests locally, selectively and sustainably and believes every part of the tree is beautiful and valuable,” the release notes. “This sacred trust drives the company to create innovative products that bring the beauty of nature indoors and enable customers to express their individuality and inspiration to its fullest measure.”
The company employs about 500 workers, according to a LebTown report in March 2020.
