Bethel Township
Vehicle accident – At approximately 7:15 p.m. Jan. 19, the driver of a 2010 Mack Truck – a PennDOT snow plow vehicle – put the bed up to shift his load while salting the road. He forgot to put his bed back down, and his vehicle struck the Interstate 78 east bridge and roll onto its side. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries. PennDOT, V&M Towing, and Fredericksburg Fire Company assisted on the scene.
Assault – At 10:20 a.m. Jan. 24, a 14-year-old Hamburg boy punched a 32-year-old Lemoyne woman in the face on Walnut Street.
City of Lebanon
Shots fired – At approximately 2:10 a.m. Jan. 31, police responded to the 600 block of East Lehman Street for a report of shots fired. Police located multiple spent bullet casings in the area and discovered an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Lt. Sean Buck or submit a tip through CRIMEWATCH.
K-9 update – The Lebanon City Police Department would like to give a big thank you to all who helped with its K-9 organization. With donations from businesses and the community, the department is proud to announce its new addition, K-9 Ares. Assigned as his handler is Officer Secoges; both are currently attending High Drive K-9 Inc. Academy. The swearing-in ceremony will be held after they graduate in late March. Lebanon city police will continue to provide updates as K-9 Ares starts his career at the department.
Heidelberg Township
Vehicle accident – At 5:27 p.m. Jan. 23, a 2014 Buick Verano driven by a 42-year-old Myerstown woman was traveling east on Reistville Road, west of its intersection with South Ramona Road. A 2003 Toyota Camry driven by a 21-year-old Schaefferstown woman was stopped on South Ramona Road, facing south at the Reistville intersection. The Buick turned left onto South Ramona Road and struck the Toyota. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage. The drivers were wearing seatbelts and sustained no injuries. Charges of turning movements and required signals are pending.
North Annville Township
DUI – At 12:11 a.m. Jan. 27, a 51-year-old Palmyra man operated a 2016 Kia Sportage on Thompson Avenue and Water Works Way while under the influence of alcohol.
South Londonderry Township
Found property – At 11:26 p.m. Jan. 13, police found a red and black mountain bike/electric bike at Monument Lot, which is located on state game land in Mount Gretna. Anyone with information regarding this bike is asked to contact South Londonderry Township police.
Vehicle accident – At 10:24 p.m. Jan. 26, a 2015 VW Jetta driven by a 17-year-old male struck a deer in the 2200 block of South Forge Road. The driver was uninjured.
Vehicle accident, following too closely – At 5:34 p.m. Jan. 24, a southbound vehicle driven by a 54-year-old Palmyra man was slowing on South Forge Road and preparing to turn left onto Carriage Road when he was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old Palmyra woman. Both drivers were treated on the scene and released. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Police charged the woman with following too closely.
Vehicle accident – At 9:17 a.m. Jan. 31, an Acura coupe driven by a 58-year-old Womelsdorf woman crashed into a utility pole in front of the 8000 block of Colebrook Road. The utility pole broke and wires came down. Several homes were without power while Met Ed repaired the damage. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Lawn Fire Company and First Aid and Safety Patrol of Lebanon assisted on the scene.
