The annual Lebanon Tire Collection event is scheduled for May 1 at the Lebanon Valley Fairgrounds & Exposition Center, and organizers say anyone planning to drop off some tires should preregister to avoid the lines.
The collection event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the expo center, at 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon. Collection is open only to Lebanon County residents, so participants should bring proof of address, such as a driver’s license or utility bill, to the event.
“Out of-county persons or tire-related businesses must pay for all tires they dispose of at the collection,” organizers with the Lebanon County Conservation District note on the event flyer.
Individuals can turn in 10 auto tires, two midsized (tractor-trailer) tires, or one oversized (25-inch diameter or larger) tire for free, “so long as funds are available in an individualโs municipality,” the flyer explains. “Individuals will be charged after municipality funds are depleted.”
Charge for tires over the allocated number is $4 each for auto tires, $20 each for midsized tires, and $40 each for oversized tires.
Tires must be off the rim, drained of water, unburned and “not excessively dirty,” according to the flyer.
Preregistration opened on Tuesday, Feb. 20, and runs through Monday, April 15. The form is available online and can be emailed to Lydia.mohn@lccd.org. For questions or verbal registration, call 717-277-5275.
