Luthercare is currently accepting applications for eight nursing scholarships to be awarded to high school seniors from Lebanon and Lancaster counties who are interested in pursuing a degree in nursing.

The scholarships are open to students from public, private, nonpublic, and homeschool programs and will be awarded in the amounts of $5,000 (two scholarships), $3,000 (one scholarship), and $1,000 (five scholarships).

As part of the application process, students are required to submit an essay of 750 words or less explaining why they are interested in the nursing field and why they should receive the scholarship, along with two letters of recommendation – one from a teacher, coach, or mentor, and one from a member of the community.

Applications for the nursing scholarship program are open online now until Wednesday, April 3.

Luthercare’s nursing scholarship committee is chaired by Tammy Schucker, and questions regarding the program can be directed to Schucker via phone at 717-626-1171, ext. 1552, or email at tschucker@luthercare.org.

Luthercare’s Nursing Scholarship program began in 2009, and in 2020 it expanded to be open to students in Lebanon and Lancaster counties who plan to pursue a nursing career after high school. To date, the program has distributed $72,000 to 62 students thanks to program donors.
