Lebanon City Police arrested 22-year-old Octavius Burrus of Northumberland County on Tuesday, March 26, around 6:00 p.m. at the Family Dollar store located at 306 Cumberland Street over a shooting incident.
Police were originally called to the site for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they discovered that a gunshot victim and the suspect were still inside the store.
Lebanon police said that they created a perimeter and announced their presence, and that both the gunshot victim and the suspect subsequently exited the store.
Police said they took the suspect, Burrus, into custody and located a firearm at the scene.
The gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
The shooting was not related to the other incident in downtown Lebanon on Tuesday, according to the police release.
Burrus was charged with multiple felonies related to aggravated assault and firearms possession.
Burrus is currently being held at Lebanon County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail, which was set Wednesday at $500,000.
Police said in a statement on Wednesday, March 27, that through their investigation it was learned that Burrus and the victim were known to each other, and that the incident was not a random act of gun violence.
A preliminary hearing for Burrus is scheduled for April 11 at 8:00 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Aurelis Figueroa.
