The U.S. House of Representatives is accepting submissions from high school students across the country for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition.
Congressman Dan Meuser is encouraging artists in grades 9 through 12 in Pennsylvania’s 9th District to submit their best work to one of his district offices before Thursday, April 18.
Sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the competition is held each spring in an effort to recognize and promote artistic talent within the country.
One high school student will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year and have it featured on the House.gov’s Congressional Art Competition web page.
The winning piece must be original — in concept, design, and execution — two-dimensional, and framed. It should be no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, and should be no heavier than 15 pounds, even when framed.
Paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photographs can be entered. The official rules and regulations for students and teachers can be accessed here (PDF), and the student release form can be accessed here (PDF).
A participant reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Walk In Art Center, at 220 Parkway, Schuylkill Haven.
