The Friends of the Annville Free Library hosts their three-day Big Book Sale from April 17 to 20 at Annville United Methodist Church.

The event kicks off with an early bird sale on Wednesday, April 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., which – for the price of a $5 ticket – gives patrons first pick from among thousands of available books. The main sale is free and open to the public and runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

A press release notes that hardcover books will be sold for $2 and paperbacks will be sold for $1. On Saturday, shoppers can bring their own grocery-sized bags and fill them with books for $5 per bag.

More than 7,000 “gently used books” will be available, according to the release.

“In addition to the usual selection of current and classic fiction, books have been sorted for easy browsing into such categories as history, entertainment, gardening, science, biography, and travel,” the release says. “An assortment of rare and collectible books as well as jigsaw puzzles and DVDs are included in the sale. Young readers can browse in a separate room devoted to children’s books. Some children’s books will be offered at half price.”

The sale is held in the church basement at 1 N. College Ave., Annville. Entrance is in the rear. Volunteers from Annville United Methodist Church will sell food and beverages each day of the sale.

Proceeds from the sale support Annville Free Library with expenses such as circulation, equipment, and special programs. Donations of gently used books are accepted year-round at the library.
