A lucky Mega Millions ticket purchased in Lebanon County turned out to be worth $1 million.
The winning ticket from the Friday, April 12, drawing was sold at BG’s Value Market at 19 Old Route 22, Jonestown. The ticket matched the five white balls — 1, 12, 14, 18, 66 — missing only the Mega Ball number, 16, which if matched would have won a $125 million jackpot (odds of that are 1 in 302,575,350).
For its role in selling the lucky ticket, BG’s Value Market will receive a $5,000 bonus.
The identity of the winner remains unknown until the prize is claimed and the ticket validated. Lottery winners have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. The Pennsylvania Lottery advises winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately if purchased at a retailer. Online winnings are automatically deposited into the player’s account once claims are processed.
In the same drawing, over 28,200 other Pennsylvania Lottery Mega Millions tickets also won prizes, including more than 6,200 purchased with the Megaplier option, which can multiply non-jackpot prizes.
Following the draw, the Mega Millions jackpot has increased to an estimated $148 million annuity value, or $67.8 million in cash, for the next drawing on Tuesday, April 16.
Mega Millions is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets can be purchased both online and at retail locations. For more information on how to play or to find a retailer, visit palottery.com.
