Weis Markets recently announced that the remodel of its store on South 12th Street, Lebanon, has begun.

The project is expected to be finished later this spring. Dennis Curtin, director of public relations for Weis Markets, said the food retailer will remain open for business during the project.

The project does not include an expansion of the store, according to Curtin. In 2018, Weis purchased the 798 S. 12th lot currently housing Goodwill for $1,100,000. That property was later used to develop the Weis gas station currently in place along Quentin Road.

According to the release, enhancements included in the remodeling project include new decor, a beer and wine cafe offering 450 varieties of premium, craft and imported beers and 300 varieties of imported and domestic wines, an expanded selection of specialty cheeses, and a larger inventory of organic and natural products.

Weis has had approval to hold a liquor license for the location since a liquor license transfer was granted in 2017. The license has been held in safekeeping status with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board since then.

Founded in 1912, Weis Markets operates 196 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia, and Virginia.
