Update 5/1: The victim was identified by police as Casimira Pakola, according to a report by the Patriot-News.
A 77-year-old woman was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver near her South Lebanon Township home this morning, according to police.
The South Lebanon Township Police Department was called to Eastfield Drive around 7:37 a.m. April 30 for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
When officers arrived on the scene, they determined that the pedestrian was deceased. Police said the driver of the striking vehicle had fled the scene. Police said the woman resided in a neighboring housing development.
In a statement released early this afternoon, police say they have since located the driver and the vehicle that fled the scene without stopping to render aid or provide information.
