Older Lebanon County residents are eligible to receive $50 to buy locally grown produce this summer.
The program, which is administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Assistance, is offering five payments of $10 each to help ensure seniors have access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Lebanon County Farmers Market Nutrition Program may only be used to purchase produce grown in Pennsylvania. The program is meant to expand the awareness and use of farmersโ markets.
To be eligible to receive the funds, applicants must be Lebanon County residents who are 60 years old or older. They also must meet income guidelines, which range from $27,861 for a single-person household to $97,532 for an eight-person household. (See graphic below for the full list of income guidelines.)
Checks will be distributed between June 1 and Sept. 30. Checks must be used by Nov. 30.
Please note that in the attached graphics, the Chestnut Street Community Center address is incorrect. The correct address is 609 Chestnut Street, Lebanon.
Eligible seniors are encouraged to attend one in-person distribution event this summer. Anyone who cannot attend the in-person event can call the Lebanon County Area Agency on Aging at 717-273-9262 and request an application or proxy form by mail. However, officials warn they might take “much longer” to process.
A list of approved local vendors and markets will be provided with every set of checks. Participants in the program can also use the FMNP Market Locator app on Android and Apple devices to find participating locations.
More information on the program is available through the Lebanon County Area Agency on Aging. For in-person applications and checks, find the agency at the times and locations listed on the flyers below.
