Burt & Me at Mt. Gretna Playhouse

$39.00 – $45.00 | 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 28 | 200 Pennsylvania Ave, Mount Gretna

The romantic musical comedy Burt & Me returns to Gretna Theatre this summer from June 20-29. It last played there in 2012. The show premiered at the Act II Playhouse outside of Philadelphia in the summer of 2010 and features the incredible music of Burt Bacharach & Hal David with book by Larry McKenna, a resident of Wayne, Pennsylvania.

The book tells the story of Joe & Lacey, two high school sweethearts who drift apart when they both attended separate colleges. When their paths cross years later, Joe devises a clever plan to win her back…with an assist from one Burt Bacharach. The high school in the Burt & Me is modeled after McKenna’s alma mater, Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield (Delco), back in the late 60’s. However, in the show the high school’s name has been changed to St. Peter’s…which is forced to merge with St. Paul’s and then later with St. Mary’s Academy, making the students fear that their school song might be changed to “Puff the Magic Dragon.”

The musical comedy features all the greatest songs by Bacharach & David and includes such favorites as “I Say A Little Prayer,” “What the World Needs Now,” “Walk On By,” “A House is Not A Home,” “One Less Bell to Answer,” “Blue on Blue,” “Close to You,” and many more. For more information contact Gretna Theatre at GretnaTheatre.org. For more information about the show, visit the website.
