The United Way of Lebanon County is hosting its annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive to help students in need throughout the county.

The drive runs through July 20, according to a release from Samuel Light, communications and events manager for the United Way.

Last year, the Stuff the Bus drive distributed backpacks and supplies to over 700 students. The goal this year is to collect enough supplies to give a new backpack and basic supplies to every child who needs them in every school district in the county in time for the start of the new school year.

School supplies that are needed include backpacks, No. 2 pencils, pens, tablets, crayons, folders, and colored pencils.

Supplies can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon on July 13 or 20 at the YMCA Train Depot, 250 N. Eighth St., Lebanon. Supplies can also be purchased online and sent to the United Way of Lebanon County using the Amazon “Stuff the Bus” wishlist.

Donors are also encouraged to host a supply collection at their workplace, church or through a civic group. Pick-up of collected items can be arranged by contacting the United Way office at 717-273-8144 by Wednesday, July 17.

The United Way will host a Back-to-School Festival from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 3, where students from all districts in Lebanon County can pick up donated school supplies at the Lebanon Middle School Stadium at 7th and Church streets, Lebanon. Preregistration is not required.

Remaining supplies will be given to Lebanon County schools for distribution to additional students who need them.

Find more information on how to donate school supplies to the Stuff the Bus program online.

Stuff the Bus and the Back-to-School Festival are a collaborative effort between United Way of Lebanon County, Making a Difference of Lebanon, Lebanon Valley Family YMCA and local businesses and community organizations.
