We are just days away from the official kick off of the 68th Annual Lebanon Area Fair and we have gathered up our top 10 reasons that you do not want to miss the first day on Saturday, July 20!
⑩The animal barns are an absolute flurry of activity! The pigs, cows, rabbits, goats and sheep moved in to the Fairgrounds either Friday night or Saturday morning and our hard-working exhibitors are busy washing, clipping, and decorating their pens. If you want to see a lot of animal action, be sure to walk through on barns on Opening Day.
⑨Be first to see the winners! The exhibit hall opens at 4 p.m. after seven hours of judging all the competitive indoor exhibits. The flower, vegetable, and baked goods are fresh for admiring on the first day, having been picked, arranged, or prepared in the hours just before entries were due for drop off. Viewing the winners on Day One gives you the best look at what makes a Best in Show exhibit!
⑧Endorphin junkies – we’re hitting the ground running! Flood your body with those feel-good chemicals by signing up for the 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. The run begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, and all participants receive a free admission ticket to the Fair! Plus there are prizes for the winners and refreshments for all.
⑦See Fair Queen Madison Copenhaver’s favorite tractor at this year’s Car Show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to Noon, which has expanded to include the inaugural Tractor Show! ⑥Be among the first Lebanon Countians to experience “The Beast,” Penn Valley Shows’ newest amusement ride! The Beast seats 16 passengers and takes them on a thrilling claw-like ride upside down and spinning in the air. It has received rave reviews from riders across the state since it debuted this spring!
⑤There are trophies up for grabs! Bring the kids out for the Pedal Tractor Pull at 2 p.m. and watch them use their little muscles to pedal a tractor with a weighted sled as far as they can. The contest is limited to children age 10 and under and trophies are awarded in six age divisions. All participants receive a prize ribbon and a chocolate bar. Sign ups begin at 1:30 p.m.
④Be a part of history! For the first time, the Lebanon Area Fair will crown not only a new Fair Queen and her court, but also announce the first-ever Lebanon Area Fair Princesses!
