Lebanon police announced Thursday, Aug. 1, that 47-year-old Jose Enrique Rivas of New Jersey was apprehended Wednesday in New Jersey over charges of sexual assault of a minor.

Rivas will be extradited to Lebanon County to face the charges, police said.

According to a release by Lebanon City Police, the department began an investigation into alleged sexual assault of a minor on July 6.

Lebanon police said that city detective Dory Martin quickly identified Rivas as the suspect.

“As a result of numerous interviews, review of video surveillance, and other methods of investigation, charges were filed, and a warrant was obtained on July 31, 2024,” said police in the news release.

According to court documents, Rivas faces six felony charges, including statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors, as well as two misdemeanor charges of indecent assault.
