It’s time to name the buses.
After accepting name suggestions from the public for two weeks in July, Lebanon Transit has opened the polls for choosing the best monickers for its fleet of 18 buses from among the 50 finalists selected by transit staff members.
It’s all part of a promotion for Try Transit Month in September. Lebanon Transit will display the winning names on each bus for the month.

“Bussy McBusface,” a hackneyed name option playing off the notorious “Boaty McBoatface” that originated in a British “name our ship” poll in 2016, was preemptively disqualified from the running.
Lebanon Transit spokesperson Mike Ritter explained in a press release that voting opened at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, and will end at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. Ballots may be cast online at LebanonTransit.org/NameTheBus or by calling Lebanon Transit’s marketing coordinator at 717.274.3664, ext. 304.
The winning names will be announced and winners notified by Friday, Aug. 30, Ritter said in the release.
