The Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association (CATRA) is offering a unique program that combines the healing power of horses with educational opportunities for children.
The HighHOPES Miniature Horse Challenge is open to children ages 7 to 11 and their parents or guardians. The course takes place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the CATRA facility in Grantville (168 Station Road).
The program is designed to promote effective communication skills, healthy choices, problem-solving, and volunteerism using equine-assisted fun learning activities.
The cost is $10 per child or $20 per family. There are a limited number of slots available per session.
CATRA, which was founded by Ben and Shirley Nolt in 1985, has a mission of providing quality equine and animal-assisted therapeutic programs to the people of the Capital area.
For more information about the program, please visit the CATRA website or contact Robin Helm at robin@catra.net.
