The South Lebanon Fire Department is hosting a softball tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14, at South Hills Park to help raise money for the department.
The tourney will be divided into two brackets, a “first responder” division and a “regular” softball division. The game will start at 8 a.m. at 1100 S. Lincoln Ave.
Money raised will help the fire department with equipment purchases, general building upkeep and maintenance, supplies and station furnishings. Jeremy Brandt, tournament coordinator, noted that the department – following its merger of Hebron Hose/Avon, Friendship, and Prescott fire departments into the South Lebanon Fire Department – has three stations to maintain.
SLFD president Tony Verna said they expect to field 20 teams of softball players, with a 12-person roster for each team. Sponsorship opportunities are available by emailing jdb.slfd48@gmail.com.
Food trucks from City Edge Coffee, The BBQ Trough, and Wich Way Sandwiches will be on hand for the event, Brandt said. The fire department will also have several pieces of SLFD Fire Apparatus on display.
