The Pennsylvania National Guard and USO are accepting registrations for the 13th annual March for the Fallen, which will take place at Fort Indiantown Gap on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The March for the Fallen is a community event held each year at the base, before Gold Star Motherโ€™s Day, to honor the memory of those who have fallen in defense of the nation. The event is open to the public and typically draws participants from military and civilian communities across the United States.

The event runs, rain or shine, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registrants may choose to participate in one of various challenges, including a 28-mile and a 14-mile ruck march, a 5K run/walk, and a 28-mile hand cycle, as well as virtual 28-mile marches and 5k runs/walks. The 28- and 14-mile marches offer challenging routes varying from asphalt roads to rolling and steep mountain trails of dirt and gravel on the training lands of Fort Indiantown Gap, according to a release from the Public Affairs Office of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Event races will not be timed. Trophies will be provided to individual race winners by the Training Site.

A donation is not required to participate, but registration is required. Bibs will be provided at check-in and must be visible at all times during the event. Anyone found on the courses without an event bib will be removed.

Spectators are welcome to provide support but are not allowed along the march route. Spectators may gather at the Community Club on Fisher Avenue for the duration of the event.

A spaghetti dinner will be available Friday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. in building 5-38. T-shirts can be purchased in advance of the event online; orders must be in by Sept. 7.

A valid ID is required to enter the base.
