Motorists should be on the lookout for rolling stops on I-81 in East Hanover Township early next month, according to PennDOT.

Work on the highway is necessary to replace power lines spanning the interstate, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced in a press release on Sept. 20.

The repairs will be carried out by a contractor between exits 80 (Grantville/Hershey/Route 743) and 85 (Route 934/Annville/Fort Indiantown Gap), the release said. The work will likely require multiple rolling stops of up to 15 minutes in both directions of I-81 starting at midnight on Friday, October 4, and going until 5 a.m. the morning of Saturday, October 5.

If weather or other circumstances delay the work Friday, it will be performed during the same hours on the following Saturday night.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution and note the presence of stopped or slow-moving vehicles in the work area. Traffic and travel information can be found online by visiting 511PA.com or by following PennDOT on social media.
