The public is invited to a free organ recital featuring acclaimed organist Wesley Parrott at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, at 22 S. 6th St., Lebanon Sunday, Oct. 20, 5 p.m. as part of the church’s celebration of the Feast of St. Luke.
The recital follows a Choral Evensong service at 4 p.m., which is also free and open to the public, although a freewill offering will be taken to benefit the Friends of Music initiative, which sponsored these events.

Parrott, a winner of several national organ playing competitions and finalist in the international Grand Prix de Chartres, has performed at prestigious venues such as Macy’s Grand Court on the Wanamaker Organ, The Kennedy Center, Washington National Cathedral, and The Kimmel Center. He earned degrees from The Curtis Institute of Music, The University of the South, and Eastman School of Music.
At St. Luke’s, Parrott will play the church’s Austin organ, upon which he is planning to perform works by J.S. Bach, Jean-Marie Plum, Herbert Howells, and Louis Vierne. Bach, Jean-Marie Plum, Herbert Howells, and Louis Vierne on the church’s Austin organ.
The preceding Evensong service, a completely sung Vespers service, will feature the St. Luke’s Festival Choir and compositions by parish musicians Terry Heisey and William Claxton.
“We’re so excited to be able to bring Mr. Parrott to Lebanon and to share his talents with the community,” said Rev. Dr. David Zwifka, rector of St. Luke’s. “We encourage the public to take this rare opportunity to hear a world-class musician right here in town.”
Zwifka also encouraged guests to attend the 4 p.m. Evensong, noting that “many people don’t know that St. Luke’s is the only church in the area outside cities like Philadelphia and New York to offer regular Evensong services.”
