Compeer is a national organization founded in Rochester, New York, in 1973. The Lebanon affiliate was established in 1999 and is located at 4 S. 4th St. in the city.

Its mission is “to help support clients with mental health diagnoses,” a Compeer spokesperson told LebTown in a 2020 interview. Clients are usually looking for additional support while coping with anxiety, depression or some other mental health issue, the spokesperson explained, and are often referred from within the mental health system, the county or a local hospital.
