Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Karen Groh has been invited to attend the National Child Care Innovation Summit: Business Leaders in Action this December in Washington, D.C.
Hosted at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the event on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 3-4, will bring together leaders from across the country to explore strategies for addressing the critical child care challenges impacting employees and communities.
The summit, presented by the David and Laura Merage Foundation in partnership with Executives Partnering to Invest in Children and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is designed to educate, inspire, and equip business leaders with the tools to develop impactful child care solutions in their regions, according to a press release.
“Access to affordable child care remains a significant barrier to getting many people back to work,” Groh said in a statement. “The cost is often prohibitive, and child care centers face staffing shortages due to low wages, resulting in long waitlists for families. These challenges directly affect workforce retention and recruitment.”
The summit will provide Groh with the opportunity to connect with fellow business leaders, employers, and economic development partners and learn from industry innovators who are successfully addressing workforce challenges through creative child care solutions, the release says. Participants will collaborate on actionable strategies aimed at fostering economic growth by supporting child care access and affordability in their communities.
Groh hopes to bring valuable insights and solutions back to the Lebanon Valley, advancing the chamber’s mission of strengthening businesses and enhancing the local economy, the release says.
